A huge milestone has been hit in the world of vehicle-to-grid and bidirectional charging with an important announcement from the team over at V2Grid & Infy Power celebrating the CEC-approval of their Numbat bidirectional EV charger in Australia.
As a nations-first, the first CEC-approved bidirectional electric vehicle charger is the V2Grid Numbat / Infy Power ‘EXP07K1E’ charger, a 6.2kW bidirectional charger, capable of 750V single-phase V2G/H for homes, which was approved by the CEC on 26 November 2025.
According to the CEC-approved log, these bidirectional charger variants are registered by Shenzen Infypower Co Ltd, a Chinese tech company that develops and manufactures power supply and system solutions with a focus on renewable technologies like bidirectional EV charging.
The software and hardware was created in partnership with Infy Power, where V2Grid's team looked after the engineering and control systems which are built in South Australia.
The CEC listing also shows us the 4 configurations that has been approved which all include either the AC Box or the V2H Box.
According to Infy Power datasheet listed on V2Grid’s website, it shows us all the specification and product details. (Interestingly, it doesn’t mention ‘IAU32AD-AW1’ on the CEC list – possible typo?)
V2G charger (CCS2): EXP07K1E-FSW-E
V2H Box: IAU32AD-AW1
V2G charger (CHAdeMO): EXP07K1E-FSW-C
AC Box: IAU32AS-AW2
The V2Grid Numbat / Infy Power charger is a bidirectional 6.2kW single-phase charger that is compatible with V2G and V2H configurations and bidirectional-equipped electric vehicles.
The bidirectional charger offers both CCS2 and CHAdeMO compatibility, which beats the Sigenergy bidirectional charger that only has CCS2 available.
According to the Infy Power datasheet, the V2Grid Numbat will offer IP65 for indoor and outdoor installation, suitable voltage for Australian households, and an AS4777.2 grid connection.
Its dimensions are 658mm(H)×340mm(W)×190mm(D), which doesn’t include the optional V2H or AC box which varies in sizes. (Refer to the datasheet for more sizing information) and also comes in at 23.5kg.
Like we saw with the RedEarth & Ambibox partnership, it is expected that V2Grid has partnered with Infy Power to help development and allow importation and distribution throughout Australia.
According to warranty documentation listed on V2Grid’s website, Infy Power will warrant both the CCS2 and CHAdeMO V2G charger variants, as well as the AC and V2H box for 2 years.
Warranty also mentions Retrovolt Solutions as an Australian importer, who are a Melbourne-based V2G performance tester who recently provided testing of electric vehicles with the V2Grid Numbat / Infy Power charger.

Whilst the charger has been CEC-approved, it is still unclear on when we will see the 6.2kW bidirectional charger hit the market and be ready for installation. This means that the 6.2kW bidirectional charger is not yet available for order until we receive more information.
Currently, Elite Power Group do not sell or provide installations for any bidirectional charger, and are only exploring opportunities.
In the meantime, feel free to sign up to our updates list where we update the community with what's happening around the V2G and bidirectional industry.
Whilst there is limited information so far on configuration and how it may work in Australian homes, Infy Power provides us with insightful diagrams which shows us how this new bidirectional charger could work.
Operating with or without solar, the EXP07K1E / V2Grid Numbat can provide homes with backup vehicle-to-home solutions, and have the ability to feed back into the grid like solar, with its vehicle-to-grid features.
DC power is charged and discharged between the electric vehicle and charger, which converts the DC energy to AC be used for backup load or general household usage.
The V2H box is designed to manage flow between the EV and home’s electrical system, and it also ensures that the energy from the EV is
converted to AC whilst also maintaining isolation during outages. The V2H box is required for off-grid function (page 13 of the User
Manual).
With bidirectional chargers now being approved on the CEC-approved list, it is a huge step forward for the industry.
For those excited about a V2G or V2H solutions for homes, this can play a large part in home energy management and will be a great addition to home solar and battery systems.
There are currently other bidirectional chargers being developed behind-the-scenes, as manufacturers scramble to find the ideal solutions for their EVs, current charger line-ups, and eager customers.

It's very exciting seeing progression in the world of vehicle-to-X (finally), as we start to see more companies, manufacturers, and retailers jump on the hype train that is bidirectional charging.
Only time will tell how a charger like this performs, particularly long-term. Like any new technology or product that enters the market, so do issues that will need to be rectified, so we promote consumer caution. However, this is a huge win for those who have been waiting for a long time now, with an official bidirectional charging solution about to hit shelves.
