Tesla have finally broken their silence on the Tesla
Powerwall 3
and has stated some general information about the new battery storage system on their official website - under the page title
'What to Expect for Powerwall 3'. We have also created our in-depth look at the Powerwall 3 and its features here.

In addition to the recent website updates, Elon Musk has also retweeted a post showing us the Powerwall 3, by not only showing us one that has been developed and in production, but displaying a recent image of the new Powerwall 3 installed on the side of a home in the U.S. This has stirred the community, creating many questions on aspects of the Powerwall 3 such as availability in Australia, the cost of the system, and some other factors.
"PW3 is optimized for ease of installation & high power, which means that a single Powerwall can serve as an uninterruptible power supply for most homes. This is a big deal for ensuring that the lights stay on, and you can power all your devices in the event of a power outage."
According to the Californian installer, they have installed 3 Powerwall 3’s, indicating that Tesla has released the new battery and has started distributing them across the U.S.
The Tesla Powerwall 2 has a max power output of 5kW which means even with
a full charge, you need to be mindful of what appliances you’re using to not exceed capacity.
But according to the datasheet, the Powerwall 3 offers a maximum continuous output power of 11.5 kW which is a huge step
up from the Powerwall 2’s maximum 5kW continuous output power and even
beats the Powerwall + by almost 20% at 9.6kWh.
The output power increase allows for the use of more appliances during grid outages, so you don’t need to decide whether you want to
charge your phone or make a cup of coffee.
The Powerwall 3 is also slightly smaller in width but is also thicker in depth, with 26 kg more totalling 130 kg.

You may be disappointed initially after reading the maximum capacity, but knowing Tesla,
they would have solid statistics on the perfect size battery for optimal household usage, considering they went for another
13.5 kWh battery - a strong newcomer to the popular Powerwall lineup to go alongside their Powerwall 2, which has been a
widely adopted option for homes and businesses
across the world offering a total of 13.5 kWh of usable capacity.
Similar to its predecessor, the Powerwall 3 will have a maximum continuous power input of around 5 kWh, so it will take around 3 hours to fully charge, so if you know something is about to happen, you can charge your battery relatively quickly in preparation.
The price of the Tesla Powerwall 3 is still yet to be announced, but we can expect it to be anything from $10,000 - $20,000 installed.*
Following the recent announcement of the Tesla Powerwall 2 $750 rebate, they may continue the trend and release the same or a similar
rebate for the Powerwall 3 to encourage adoption.
These new Powerwall 3 batteries consist of Prismatic Lithium-ion cells which are known to
be highly efficient at storing solar energy and typically produces less heat reducing energy loss. The Powerwall 2 cells consist of just
Lithium-ion cells which are more common across the solar battery industry.

According to Tesla's website, it seems Powerwall 3 won't be under any immediate rebate offers and will be incompatible with Powerwall 2's $750 rebate offer, but they may implement an offer once released.
The warranty for the Tesla Powerwall 3 will be 10 Years, as confirmed on their website.
Tesla Powerwall 3 will not be compatible with Powerwall 2. Multiple Powerwall 3's can be added to other Powerwall 3's but not Powerwall 2's. Powerwall 3 is also not compatible with other solar inverters.

Overall, there is no denying that Tesla make some pretty innovative technology, including this new battery storage system to join their lineup of renewable energy solutions. Now, we can only wait until they release more information or officially release the product and its mysterious price, and availability in Australia.
