Solar Inverter manufacturer Fronius has increased its range of products that help users self-consume energy from their PV system. Their latest offering is the Fronius Wattpilot. A smart charging system for electric vehicle users. The Wattpilot comes in two versions, a "home" hard-wired version and a portable "Go" version. The portable Go version comes in two flavours, 11kW for single phase and 22kW if you have three-phase capability.
Like any new device these days, there's an app for that, and the Wattpilot is no different. The app allows you to choose the charging mode; you can also adjust the charging rate, anywhere from 10 amps up to 32 amps if you have three-phase power, and schedule charging times.
The idea behind the controls in the app is to configure your EV charging during the cheapest time of day or to utilise your excess solar.
